Third day was a continuation of orientation. The directors talked about their personal experiences and about their background. Afterwards, I had to take the 4 hour long placement test to determine our level in Chinese.

Pasta with Pesto Sauce
Big fan of pesto but this was just too dry and not enough sauce :(

For dinner, my American roommate and I wanted to eat with our Chinese roommate but she had plans already. So she introduced us to restaurants on 大学路 (College Road). We wandered around the street and finally settled to eat at an Italian restaurant called MYLK which stands for My Little Kitchen. The food was just decent, nothing amazing --- I've eaten better in New York. I guess I should stick to Chinese food in Shanghai?

Fourth day was more on our academic schedules and information about the internship component.

pork noodle soup
something 排骨汤面

In the morning for breakfast, a group of friends and I met up and walked around to look for a good place to eat. We saw this noodle shop and seeing how cold it is outside, we walked in and decided to eat there. The owner was super friendly and the people that were eating there were willing to converse in Chinese with us.

Chinese-style Bulgogi rice
Chinese-style Bulgogi rice - taste different than the ones in the US

We were split up according to our level and we all ate lunch with our assigned Chinese teacher at a Korean restaurant. I am placed into Chinese 401 which I am excited and anxious at the same time since I do want to have some personal time and not get stacked by piles of homework!

Wujiaochang
Outside Wujiaochang 五角场

I went to Walmart/Wujiaochang again to get more things such as food, hair ties, a face mask for warmth, etc.

creamy curry chicken rice
Creamy curry chicken rice - it was very Shanghai-style aka very sweet :P

Afterwards, I ate at a restaurant called Mama (Korean & Mexican fusion) with my friends which was literally a few steps from our dorm.
