Instead of eating breakfast at the hostel, we walked around and finally found a café open at 10 am in the morning. I loved the tuna sandwich breakfast platter I got that I would definitely go back one more time.
First Stop: Taipei 101
Today’s itinerary is much more relaxing. The first place we visited was the world-renowned Taipei 101. We weren’t even up at the top yet, but the gift shops, restaurants, and shops already amazed us. We bought desserts up at the top since our tickets offered discounts but I don’t recommend spending money on it because it wasn’t that great!
Second Stop: Beitou Hot Springs
Since we wanted to go to the hot springs yesterday but didn’t get a chance to, the three of us decided that the next thing we should do is bath in a hot spring. We chose Beitou Hot Springs because it had a low entrance fee of 40 TWD.
It was a Sunday so it was crowded and I noticed there were many old people bathing the hot springs. The people were very friendly and very willing to speak with us. One lady told me to take off my cover-up and joked that if she were younger, she would wear a bikini and show off her body. She thought I was Indonesian and I pointed out that Brittany was Indonesian; the lady said she looked more American than the two of us.
Third Stop: Ximending Night Street
For dinner, we visited another night market, the Ximending Night Street. It wasn’t much like a night market but more like a street in Times Square.
We ate at a Japanese restaurant and I wouldn’t recommend going to this restaurant ever! We waited more than an hour for our food and the server kept informing us that our food was being cooked. What upset me even more was that I ordered a drink but they didn’t even bring out my drink until I asked the third time.
We saw many performances on the street. There was a man doing oil spray paintings. There was also a young guy dancing and performing on the street.
